Good morning, To begin, an irrelevant confession: last night I burned the garlic bread to charred black pucks. And the spaghetti, if you can believe that, because Google recommended I sauté it to reheat instead of microwave. More than one White Claw was involved. No lesson to report, just public penance. Shame, shame! If you’re hankering for a lesson, I have one. I call it Good Action Theory. GAT! Good Action Philosophy may be better, but GAP is taken. GAT states that the order, sequence and volume of actions matters less than we think. It all accrues. Compounds. Deposits. Good Action is tiny action taken without mental noise. GAT for creativity is linked to unknowing, intuition, and Things That Feel Good. Good action examples: picking up your camera and walking around without having an outcome. Trying on an Instagram persona knowing you can change (try a thing for 15 posts at at time, why not?) Good action is wanting to photograph water so you do. Today. With what you have on hand. GAT shortens the time between desire and action. Acting instead of thinking, planning, ensuring an outcome (ha!) or justifying it. Good action is like depositing a dollar in the bank. Having a financial plan is good (do that) but a deposit is a deposit. Good action is what I can accomplish today. Clever writing would tie this back to the garlic bread, but I’m ready to move on and certain the family will remind me. GAT says its time to press send. Cheers,
