One Bio, Eight Statements
When it comes to artist biographies and statements, I’m inspired to look for examples. From others words we can reverse engineer their parts or use their paragraphs as fill-in-the-blanks. When Madoka asked what to list in a bio other than school and accolades, I said:

epochs/eras
I use my biography to define myself to myself. What am I doing again? How am I recognizable to myself and the world? It changes about once a year, on par with my creative evolution. Define, outgrow and rewire ad infinitum.
Example Artist Biography
Odette England is a writer, visual artist, and scholar. She is a 2022 Guggenheim Foundation Fellow and has received grants and awards from the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, Puffin Foundation, and Anonymous Was a Woman, among many others. She has published four award-winning books and has another two coming out this year. England graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design and received her Ph.D. in 2018.
